  • Cucumber question

If I nip out the side shoots will it produce well on the main stem, or if I nip the main stem will it produce well on the side shoots,? What does everyone else do? I'm pushed for space in the greenhouse so I can't afford to really let them go mad 🤔

I'm sorry, I can't help because I've never done either....but I didn't want you to feel you were being ignored! x

I've taken out side shoots from the start for the first time this year and it has worked really well. in the past I have just let them get on with it, then cut back once they got to big. I think I'm getting more cucumbers this year though. Only thing is I don't know if variety makes a difference to pinching out. I'm growing paska. Don't know if I've been much help.

mine grow in pots, up a cane and then along a cord along the roofline of the greenhouse. this year we have some difference in the fruit..... grown from the same seed packet but one is long and smooth the other is short fruited and with lumps like a warthog!!!!, I will see if they taste different or not..
