Too cold, too wet, too dry? What size pot is it in? And where is it?

If I could add to Rusty's list - too hot or too cold. Does it recover or are some leaves always limp? A photo would help

Are the limp leaves the seed leaves - the first 2 leaves at the bottom of the stem that are usually round, rather than pointed?

Anthony - 2 of my cucumbers germinated, and one seems OK with nice firm leaves, and the other, smaller one wilts just like your's. Eventually I put it back in the propogator where it's been quite happily growing another (small!) leaf. It kept wilting in sun, cold, draughts, if it didn't like what I was wearing or if the dogs barked too loud - a very finicky plant I'd say. I've sown 2 of a different variety now as backup, because I'm not convinved that Mr Fussy is going to make it through the summer! Can't stay in that propogator forever...

just blame the weather,we cannot do right for doing wrong,it's not just cucumbers, but across the whole seed sowing game, very frustrating, when at last something does spring into life,it turns chicken and reluctant to grow up,just maybe we will all have to look and see if there are hardier strains available for our climate,i am seriously considering some kind of a poly tunnel for next year, and grow some things like beans that self pollinate?

Hi Lottie dolly - I've been wondering about buying some large pieces of polytunnel plastic to put over some of my hoops next year - it does look as though the weather has it in for us at the moment doesn't it .
