I will have 20 x Femspot, 20 x Pepinex , which are my tried and trusted favourites and this year I'm going to try 10 x Passandra (small cukes ideal for my veg boxes)

As I will be growing them in the greenhouse I selected varieties with a small footprint: Salad Bush and Bush Champion. I grew the Salad Bush last year, and although it is supposed to only grow to 2 feet, by the end of the season the plant was 4 feet high and 8 feet long. It had very nice cucumbers though.

I'm growing 'Miniature White' (not the most imaginative name) from the Real Seed people.

I've never grown cucumbers before (not in my whole 2 years of experience lol), but these are described as 'sweet skinned, no need to peel. Pick them small - when under 3" long. The compact vine can be trellised' ...... and that's why I bought them, to grow up a sunny wall.

I'm growing crystal lemon cos I got some free seeds, Alan T says you should only need 1 plant for a family, we shall see. I shall also buy a plant from the local nursery. I only had a go with cucs last year and had problems with the babies dropping off and shrivelling up.

Can anyone recommend a variety that can be grown outdoors with success?

I hope you get on well with them, last year I tried it and got no where.
I got two cucumbers from two plants, both tasted horrible. I think I left them on too long, you really must take them off when they are very small and before they go yellow.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I'm growing Wautoma from Real seeds which is meant to do well outdoors, but I have not tried it before.

Inside I'm going to going to grow Cucino-lunch box type, Sikkim and Uzbekski.

I will be growing my favourite outdoor cukes again this year. Marketmore, I personally dont think i can beat the flavour (imo) with any other types. I tried Burpless and they didnt come close

I will definitely be growing miniature whites from Real Seeds again this year... they were very prolific last year. I started them off in the greenhouse, then moved them outside. I will also be trying marketmore for the first time... it's good to see that others recommend them.
