Hi Cloud
I have grown these once before (my word they are lovely things) and I didn't get much of a harvest - I didn't remove the males flowers.
I am a novice now, so I was an under-novice then!
My poor harvest may have been due to lack of knowledge about removing flowers, who knows.
someone with greater experience will come along soon.
I will say the few I got from the plant were absolutely delicious!!

I've got some of these seeds are they an indoor or outdoor variety?

I grew these last year and got HEAPS of cucumbers. I grew some in the green house and some outside, and the ones in the greenhouse started cropping earlier, but once the ones outside caught up they were equally prolific.

I didn't remove the male flowers, just let it do its thing, but did take the fruit quite early if I wanted to eat it unpeeled. I found if I left it to ripen a long-ish time, then it was rather seedy.

Good luck, I really enjoyed growing, eating and giving away these unusual veg!

I got a free pack of these and have 4 seedlings. I think I'll chance 1 in the GH and 3 outside.

I grow them outdoors Cloud and they are really prolific.
I don't remove the male flowers.
As Queen of the Cobs says, they're best picked young when they look like small lemons.

I grew these about 15 years ago when they were first in vogue! I grew them outdoors like a ridge cucumber and got a tremendous crop (can't remember removing any flowers)
I found them a wee bit insipid and tasteless at the time but hopefully they've improved the varieties these days!

Can I ask where you got the seed, Cloud? as I haven't seen any in the local GC's!

I'm trying these for the first time this year... Although I think I sowed far too many and now have an army of the little seedlings!
I believe I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't remove the male flowers. I intend to put some in the greenhouse and some outside, just to see which ones crop better!

there is a variety called Crystal Apple too, which I also grew (with similar results - think i picked too late) but that was delicious too

A great place and one of the few that has the seeds!

I am growing these this year for the first time so really looking forward to these now.

I had four seeds germinate so kept two and gave two away, like the sound of crystal apple too.
