I grew these last year for the first time - for me, they are lovely, but I guess it's subjective isn't it

They are best picked smallish, say large tennis ball size - they have little black spikes on the outside that you can just rub away. I grew one in the greenhouse and one outside, training that up a string, both were good, but the greenhouse one had a slight edge in cropping size.

They look very pretty on the plate and taste good, I shall be growing them again.

Pretty much exactly wot she said, and I agree on the taste, I really liked them.
Mine were very heavy croppers, I ended up composting most of them as so many grew.

Apparantly they don't give you indigistion as badly as other cukes.
        Are good for pickling too.

ooh goody. I bought a packet of seeds and was going to grow them for their novelty value but if they taste good that's a bonus.

I grew them last year as well, I rubbed the little prickles round the base of the mane stem slugs didn't like them sticking in there belly's, I found the skin a little tuff but flavor wise they were lovely.

I'm just off out to check out our new location (stand by Wayne!) for possible MQs - bear with me stella and I'll gather the recipe when I get back
