  • Crown Prince on strike?

I had no success with pumpkins last year bit this year I've had a bit more luck.

I have 2 Crown Prince Pumpkins that have been large grapefruit sized for about a month now but now appear to have gone on strike (even though last week we had lovely warm sunny weather). Is this it for them?

Probably, what do the vines look like? If they are all brown and dried up, then the fruit is unlikely to grow any bigger. If they are still green and healthy they they might do a bit more growing, but really we are now in the skin ripening phase, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope. If the vine is still green, you could try putting some chicken manure pellets down and topping up your mulch with some well rotted compost or manure.

Mine were teeny tiny about a month ago, so I gave them a few doses of Supercharged Comfrey Tea, and now they're hoooj

Mine have done well this year. They made a bold attempt to swamp the entire allotment and have now produced about 4 monster squashes per plant and a few smaller ones. I didn't feed them at all.

Well, I went to investigate them more thoroughly today and it looks like they have had their chips as the plants are dying back and looking poorly. Better luck next year I hope - I still have some seeds left over.

TS and Glaurung - I would keep a close eye on yours, I may be down to pinch them.
