    hi everyone,

before i got my garden patch i planted quite a few potatoes in two bags, but they're growing leaves now and look quite crowded, is it possible to plant potatoes on or is it better to leave them? Advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, S xxx

First of all, how big are the bags and how many spuds in each?

they are potato planter bags i'd say about 50cm across with *ahem* about 9 sprouts in each, some seem very close together though so i assume one or two must be shoots of the same potato?

Yup, each spud will put up more than one shoot. That is why I asked how many spuds per container. I would guess that if they are potato planters, you should be fine with 3 seed spuds in each one.

If you mean transplanting some of them into another container to leave more room, you shouldn't have any problems doing that. I've done it myself in the past when I've put too many in a container. Even if you accidently break the seed potato off the end of the plant, just water it in and it will grow on.
I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!
