  • Crimson crush seeds

Thought Crimson Crush was Suttons baby ?, so why are they £3.99 for ten seeds at Suttons but £3.49 for 15 seeds at dobies.
Are these companies joined at the hip so to speak ?, not that it really matters lol, i know where im buying mine from .

Suttons & Dobies are the same company!
Marshalls & Unwins are the same.
T&M & Van Meeuwen (?sp) are the same.

    Probably others too!

There's not as much choice as we're led to believe

      Mr Fothergills & DT Brown

Edit: maybe Johnsons seeds too, although that is only a guess based on them having the same postcode as Mr fothergills.....

There are several small seed companies, though they tend to sell open-pollinated seeds so won't have Crimson Crush seeds.

I have 3 CC sideshoots in a glass on the windowsill, happily rooting themselves in the water. If it all goes to plan they are the starters of my free tomato plants next year. The remaining 3 seeds can stay in their pack.

            THAT was my plan Sparrow

This coming season ( ive heard so many praising Crimson Crush, Sungold, Mountain Majic and Shirley) i intend/intented to have a crack at these f1s, shirley and sungold for apparent taste and mm and cc because of blight resistance.

The differences in price though of these can vary hugely, you can get 10 shirley seeds for five pounds off one site but twenty seeds for the same price at another. I was hoping to get all four lots of seeds from one site to save on postage lol ( that aint happening it seems ).

so looks like im gonna rely on gcs/diy stores for my taste and blight tests

                  My pleasure Jack
At least you can buy T&M seeds without too much pain! They do 5 packs for the price of 4 too (cheapest free).

I really do think crimson crush are worth it, blight resistant, early and one of the best tasting large varieties, imo miles better than a shirley

Has anyone done a side by side comparison of MMagic & CCrush?
                        Wondering how similar they are?

Yeah ive grown them side by side for a couple of years

They arent really that similar, mountain magic is a small to medium tomato probably 50-60% of crimson crush.

I find mountain magic to best the best in terms of blight resistance but crimson crush is earlier and tastes much better

Mountain magic is great as a late tomato, its stays fresh and other varieties and long since died.

My neighbour and I were going to compare them. Then slugs ate his MMs.

                              Thanks maverick
I grew some Crimson crush last year (free plants) and liked the taste - but they were in the GH so didn't test their blight tolerance.
I have some MMagic seeds to try next year but wondered whether to give CCrush a try too. Still thinking
