  • covering potato furrows?

    hi, i am about to palnt my xmas spuds and i was wondering if anyone knows if i can cover the furrows with wood chippings so keep the weeds down. im not sure if it will harm the spuds or foilage. and advice would be good, tattieman may be my best response im guessing. thaks all.

    I suppose you could, but they won't rot down. What will you do with them when they're no longer needed round the potatoes?

      Save chippings and use grass cuttings.

          The shaws(haulms as you call them) should keep the weeds down .

            I'd want them in containers to be able to move them somewhere out of the cold, or at least to be able to wrap them up.
