  • Courgettes female flower

    Hello, Need help!!!
I planted my very first courgette plant in a big bucket about two months ago. I have both female and male flowers. I have noticed little courgette growing. I have one courgette which is about 4 inch, but today I moved the plant outside (the bucket), and the female flower fell off.. Not sure what i should do.. Does it mean that the courgette will stop growing? So gutted!
I know it's abit late for courgettes as it's getting cold but thought i might get at least one!
Hope you can help me with that.
    Thanks!!!

    Hi Cathey,

The flower falling off doesn't mean the courgette will stop growing. It is very late though, so I don't know where you are, but hope it's a warmer part of the country than here! On the other hand, it sounds as if you have a perfectly edible baby courgette now - Hugh F-W picks his anything from finger-sized up.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

      Hey caro,
Thank you for your reply. In that case think I will leave it to grow before the frost comes.
I live in East Anglia, so it's not too warm at the moment, but not too cold either.
      Shame I started so late

there's always next year. Courgettes grow fast, so you don't need to sow them until April - they go outside in late May.
