I planted these instead of the normal ones this year. On the packet it says, harvest at golf-ball size to grate in salads or let grow to tennis ball size for stuffing etc.

My problem is that mine barely get to golf ball size before rotting. They probably are (just) golf ball size but they're clearly not going to get any bigger without rotting away.

Anyone got any experience of these? Any ideas?

We are growing these and they are doing really well. We have got one on our dining room table the size of a small football - serves us right for going away for the weekend.

It might be that they've not been pollinated, I understand that pollinating insects only fly when its not raining. You could try introducing the male flower to the female and errm, rub it around a bit - we do it sometimes for pumpkins (female flowers have a tiny fruit behind them, dead easy to spot!) . Might just help you get a few to set - good luck!

      Footballs! Grrr...

Mine set fine - they swell to golf ball size absolutely fine - they just don't seem to want to get any bigger...

It does sound like lack of pollination. And I'd agree that it's due to wet weather! Try using a small paintbrush and doing it yourself.
Also seperate the fruits from the wet ground eg straw.
