A couple of squash questions

My cobnuts were more of a squat rounded shape, rather than the classic butternut shape. They certainly weren't long and skinny ...?

As for size, normal butternut size, like a rugby ball

Wow - I have squash envy....mine are only just starting to fruit! I grew cobnuts last year and found them to be long with a bulbous end. They grew huge (about 12inches, much bigger than any butternut I'd seen before (especially those in shops). Just keep them well fed and be impressed with your efforts and gloat when they ripen

I have major squash envy...mine are teeny things at the side of yours. Cobnut squash are usually the same size as butternut squash but I don't think there's a hard and fast rule to how big they grow...unless your entering them into a competition.

I'm not sure as to what your other squash is...but it looks really healthy...I'm jealous of that one as well

I had gave my pattycake and zephyr a head start by planting them inside in pots in the house about 4-6 weeks early. Both are bush types and they made quite attractive house plants for a while until they started to outgrow the pots.

Now they are on the plot on mini-hills and we have too many fruit, I am giving them away

Bigger is not better though. I think they taste much better smaller, and by pulling them off small the plant seems to respond by creating even more fruit.
