  • Correct use of bordeaux mixture?

    Hallo,

I'm spraying my tomato crop as a preventative measure with Vitax bordeaux mixture.

The stated dose is 35g/1.5L - i used my digital kitchen scales to measure this, but it may not have been sensitive enough, as i ended up with what seemed like a huge mountain of powder... Does anyone know roughly how many tablespoons 35g of this mixture should be?

I used a spray bottle/mister to apply the mixture, but it didn't seem to cling very well to leaves, mostly gathering into droplets and then falling off... Is this ok? Should it stick to the leaves, and if so, would adding a few drops of washing-up liquid help, or would this interfere with the mixture?

    Thanks!

Just checked my box and it says 20g to the litre so you are about right. As for tablespoons, long, long ago in the dim distant past I seem to remember that my Housecraft (cor that don't half date me) teacher said that 1 rounded tablespoon of flour was an ounce which I think is about 28g.

Washing up liquid, yes add a drop and it should make it stick. Most commercial ready mixed stuff has a wetting agent/washing up liquid in it.

Thanks for the reminder, I must get out and do mine!

Washing-up liquid or wallpaper paste seem to be the norm for making things stickier! Hope it works for you.
