    Hi Folks,

I wanted to try growing some corn next year to make popcorn for the kids, does anyone have any tips, advice, etc?

THe types that generally make good popcorn are the old-style indian flint maize ones.... unfortuinately we're talking big plants (my Blue Hopi are 7ft tall this year) and fairly late seasons (they're only just setting cobs now, I expect to be eating my sweetcorn soon and it hasn't been a great summer for them....... Probably good to get them going in big pots in the greenhouse a month or so before modern sweetcorns like swift adn earlibird, they seem to go through a lot of water too.... finally keep them well away from your F1 sweetcorn, cross-pollination will be bad for the sweetcorn....
