we have had a couple of fairly mild days,so today i unloaded the compost bin (7 big barrowfuls) and then found that 1 inch down was solid ice for the next 6 inches, it took my pickaxe(i didnt want to admit id jumped the gun) and a lot of hard work to bury it all under what will be the runners and french bean area..OH just stood there smiling.....
