    Compost bin on concrete

    Hi

    Does anyone have their compost bin directly on concrete instead on soil?

    Does it work well and are there any problems?

    I have three bins that stand on concrete. However, the bases are raised above the concrete to enable some air to circulate underneath and into the bin. I also make sure there are a few worms in there to help with the composting process. It's always yielded a fine batch of compost

      Not really the best place for it, but if that's all you've got then go for it.

        My dalek is on concrete and have no problems but I do turn it regularly.

          Two daleks on concrete, plenty of good compost, turn it about twice year.
          The worms find their way in, I have no idea how but they do.
          If you can get some manure to kick start it, great, if not just pee in it occasionally, assuming this won't offend any overlooking neighbours.
