      Yes you can, they don't clash....but they don't benefit from being together.

        So long as you didn't plant onions in the same spot for the last couple of years I would would do it.

          If you want a good companion plant for beans (especially broad beans), I can recommend nasturtiums. They attract aphids, which are often a problem with broad beans, but seem to go for the nasturtiums in preference. There is the added benefit of attractive flowers and the whole plant is edible, delicious in salads.

          I grew these near my peas last year as an experiment to deter pea moth, with apparently total success.
