  • Chips and roasters!

I'm trying to decide on the second type of potatoes to grow, on a windy allotment site. In summer it is sunny but takes along time to warm up in the spring. I want something that is good for chips and crispy roast potatoes, anyone got any favs for this?

Kestrel great for chips, roasties, mash, rosti. Best all round potato and best coloured variety for exhibition also. King Edwards also good all rounder but it is a maincrop whereas Kestrel is a second early. Second earlies don't need to be in the ground as long which is an important consideration if there is blight about.

Most of the good chipper and roasters tend to be main crop which a lot of grapes can't grow because of blight.
