    chilli's .....they burn to the touch

    so as everybody knows chillis burn to the touch right...well the hot ones.

    as we also know it hurts a whole lot when it get in your eyes.....

    so how would a slug feel? it's moist which would aid diffusion across it's membrane.....does anyone know if a chilli wash would kill a slug? or at least deter it?

      well that's just it i don't know!

      that's quite an interesting read though.....it certainly suggests that the chemical we detect in the brain stops other similarly mammilians eating chillis but i don't know about slugs, i expect not but hey who knows.

      if only i could find a slug! ( i do feel slightly guilty about killing them using a stick and my pond this year) i also feel pretty awfull about the organic slug pellets that are down around my seedlings......

      could someone try it for me please? just some crushed up chillis around a base of the plant would do....

        If you were to just leave out some crushed chillis in their path it's their decision whether or not to eat them~guilt free murder!! Let us know if it works!!

          Just been on Weeds,Pests& diseases & it seems Mrschilli's chillis are being eaten by slugs!

            ah that rather confirms that they'll eat the leaves andi&di but how about the actual fruit?

            Hmm i'll try with insanity spice and see how we go i shall report back asap.

              Slugs and Snails do not obey the laws of nature. Rhubarb leaves contain oxalic acid and are poisonous, but slugs and snails seem to thrive on them. Likewise, I suspect chillies.

                On my Cayenne pepper plant two of the fruit have large holes in them - obviously eaten by the large snail I accidently (!) stepped on this morning in my small GH.
