Is it ok to bury chilli seedlings deeper I might have to repot mine about an inch above the seedling leaf
    Thanks

I always plant mine a bit deeper, an inch above the seed.ing leaf is quite a lot though. Are they that leggy? A photo would help.

There in 3 inch pots and will be going into larger pots so I want to get it right, I don't want to repot them again before they go into their final positions

Chillies shouldn't be potted on too soon, they grow really slowly so no benefit on potting on into a pot too big. If they aren't stretched I wouldn't pot on too deep.
Have you got any photos? Why an East facing window?

In post #2 I said that potting an inch above the seed leaves is quite a lot. Without a photo to see how big the plant is/how strong the main stem looks /how leggy it is, is a little hit and miss. I haven't got an inch to cover on my chillies after their seed leaves so I'm assuming they are stretched..cayennes maybe? What chillies are they?

I'll put my 2 penneth in, (for what it's worth), bury up to the first true leaves. This is what I do and it works for me
I keep my chillis on the dry side, slightly pot bound, in as bright a light you can give( saying that mine are on an east facing window) and a cool room.
I love growing chillies so I'm looking forward to lots of lovely info
I'm all up for new tricks and tips

I'd agree with Scarlet's comment about potting a little bit deeper, but additional roots will only form low down on the stem, up to where the seed leaves have formed.

Chillies won't produce new roots further up from stem hairs like tomatoes , so I can't see any benefit from potting them on too deep. And you could increase the chances of the stems rotting.

In the same boat as you Spunky! Although not Leggy, leggy! n not growing millions!

Yeah! agree with Scarlet n Chris! No beneficial reason to bury them too deep! As they have no reason to be, apart from them getting too top heavy!

But then again! Vicky get's results from it!

Ive always been under the impression that burying a pepper/chilli makes no difference but.........
In B&Q the other day and they had a shedfull of really poorly treated scotch bonnets ( again) but was pleased to see that where they were bent out of shape, you could see new roots had formed.
Ive always buried them deeper but now will continue to do so with maybe a touch more confidence
There again, reading the above posts again i think they were below the seed leaves so....., anyway, every little helps say Aldi
