    Chilli plants, what are your current best performers?

    For me, it has to be Peter Pepper (also known by a different name )

    This plant is miles ahead of all my other sowings for this year. Its the first time I'm growing it, more for the novelty of the 'unusual' fruits. To give an idea, all my other young plants are 2-3" H. Peter Pepper is easily 8" and went out to the greenhouse this morning.

    Chinese White, and Chinese Black, two other new strains for me, are also doing well, as are my regulars Thai Dragon, Hungarian Black, and Rokita.

    The plants taking longest to get underway are Goat Horn, and Fatalii. Irritating, as I'm really keen to try the Fatalii, its got great reviews and plenty of endorsements on this very forum.

    I could not get my fatalii to germinate however the chillies doing well are my purple pyramids and my cayenne many of the others are very very slow

      I have kept all mine in a heated propagator in the greenhouse. I did have to take one out today as it was touching the top but I'm not sure which variety it is. To be honest the rest are only about 1" behind it so I would say most of mine are about 6" or so. I have grown red cherry, cayenne, sunbite and numex twilight. I think the numex are the smallest.

      I do also have some chillies that were bought as plug plants - they are the tallest at about 10" but they don't state which variety.

          Numex Twilight, Habanero, Ghost and Peter Peppers are doing the best...

          Looked in the polytunnel today and one of the twilight has a bud on it.

              Trinidad scorpion ,Brain strain ,white and chocolate jolikia are all doing well this year but strangely not one scotch bonnett out of 20 germinated this year in two sowings

                I've got fruit on a couple of plants, but won't know what they are til they've developed a bit more. At the moment they're upward facing, lime-green and pointy looking I've a couple of peppers set fruit too, and the rocotos are flowering. The three habs I have going are looking über healthy for this time of year, slower than the rest as usual but beginning to branch and with a hint of what might be a flower bud. Can't believe the difference using the lights in February has made!

                  My Peter Pepper is also doing well with a few fruit. I also have Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, Peach Bhut Jolokia, Chocolate Habanero all with very small fruit. The rest are all flowering apart from a Butch T which has only just started throwing out flowers but all in all it's looking a pretty good year.

                    My first batch of Cyklon chillis have just ripened to a nice shade of red, and I have chillis on my Cherry Bomb and Bulgarian Carrot plants. Fatalli and Fish plants are just producing flower buds.

                    I started them off under lights on Boxing Day to get a head start.

                      I only have cayenne and its about to flower! One is bigger than the other though - and both on windowsill in bathroom at the moment.

                        On second inspection I have noticed my jalapeņo seems like its about to flower happy happy

                          I've got Jamaican Red Hot, about 6inch high. No sign of flowers. Lemon Drop about 4inch, no Flowers. pyramid, about 4 inches with flower buds ( I have taken a few off). All my cayennes have fruit although they are only about 8inches tall. They are reasonably sturdy plants considering the weather.

                            I've got Hungarian Black Wax plants at 18ins tall with a few fruits on each already - Lemon Drop is still only about 8ins tall, growing very slowly, although they were been sown at the same time and grown in the same conditions.

                              Never grown chillies before and only planted seeds a month ago. Got one cayenne at 3 inches, rest seemed to have faked to geminate then got Hungarian black and devils brew, both germinated a few days ago but seemed to have fired because I decide to put a glass dish over the top the same day it hit time it hit 50oc and t25% humidity in my blow away :'(
