    chilli growing help

    This is my first post hello to all current members.
    Im growing some chillis in my greenhouse and was wondering if chilli plants stop growing once they start to flower? If so can I pinch off the flowers? Any help would be appreciated.

    The flowers will eventually become the fruit so I wouldn't pinch them off!


    ...and I shod have said welcome to the vine chilliboy, what varieties of chillies are you growing?

      Flowers are where the fruit will develop removing flowers is meant to produce a bigger plant I only do this early in the season it's may now so temps and light levels are on the up so I would leave all flowers on the plant from now on!

      If for some reason the plant will not like the conditions it will simply drop the flower anyway.

        Cheers for the welcome. The only reason I ask about the flowers is that all my chillis are flowering but the plant is quite small compared to optimum plant size. As I understand the plant wont grow decent fruit unless its full size. I'm growing habanero, jalapeno, scotch bonnet and cayenne also six different varieties of tomato, cucumbers, squash, melons, beetroot, celeriac and courgette.

          They sometimes fruit early if they are a lite stressed. When did you sow them, how big are they and where are you keeping them? Some pics would be good!

            I bought some as seedlings and seeded some others. They are about 8-10 in tall and being kept in a green house. Will try to get some pics later

                need pictures!

                But here is what I do:

                I never pinch out or remove flowers from any habaneros.

                All other varieties, I pinch out the tops when they reach around 7 inches in height. (Irrelevant of whether or not the plant has any flowers on it.

                If any plants (except habaneros) have flowers on them before they reach around 7 inches in height, then I pull them off.

                Works for me anyway!

                  I find Habs never flower this early anyway the few times I have grow anything in the hab family are always late in the season
