  • Chicken poo and tomato food

    Which is best for what.

I was intending at this time of year when everything is already potted up to dissolve some chicken poo in water. I also have tomato food. What is best to use this on.
    I have:
    Potatoes 1st,2nds and main
    Lettuce
    Toms in flower and fruit
    spring onions
    main onions
    radish
    outdoor cucks
    courgettes
    carrotts
    Self blanching celery
cabbage the sort you harvest later in the year
    calabrese

    Thanks for you anticipated help.

Chicken poo - great source of nitrogen, so your leafy veggies, greedy feeders etc. The tomato feed is high in potassium, which is needed for good flowers/fruit.

I don't feed my onions (other people might have different ideas about that, though), or the radishes or carrots(can make them fork). Not sure about potatoes - I don't but other people might.

So keep the tomato feed for the toms (once you can see a truss) and you might also need it for cucumbers - hopefully a cucumber expert will be along shortly to tell us!

    Hope that helps.

Tomato food - tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes.
Chicken feed - lettuce, calabrese, cabbage.
      Everything else should be fine.
