  • Charity Bazaar at work! Ideas and help needed

    HI Guys

Looking to pick your brains for an Idea I've had. we are having a big "Summer Charity Bazaar" at work in aid of The Cornelia De Lang Syndrome Foundation which sadly one of our employees children suffers from.

Its meant to be a fun day with a bring and buy and a food offering, a sections to sell your services (manicures, expertise etc) and I thought about doing growing kits with seeds in and how to cards and a list of kit that you would need (like pots, compost etc)

I know what bright sparks you are so wondered what your thoughts were or if you had ideas of what to include.

I thought of getting brown bags and theming them like

    The salad bag
    The herb bag
    Vampire slayer bag (garlic obvs!)
    Gen veg
    Bee/wildlife kit
    Bean bag!

    Any ideas welcome

Do any of the Mods think that the Seed circle/bank might like to be involved/donate?

    Thanks Guys

    Hey jelliebabe,

i think its a great idea, people dont seem to think of gardening bits as pressies for kids but they love to see things starting to grow.
I think you've pretty much got it covered as in what to put in the bags, although you could stick in a little starter pot, they are really cheap to buy and you dont want the kit to go to waste coz they've got nothing to grow it in. Maybe a little bag of compost too, just enough for 1 pot.

Good luck, hope its a huge success and loads of money is raised.

When the work is done and the garden is fine, the fun will flow as will the wine - Me!

Things that children can eat, with information cards in big letters and smaller words.

Nasturtiums and Pansies. Altus carrots and cut-and-come-again salad leaves. Pumpkins and Sunflowers are always a favourite with kids. I think Sunflowers more than salad leaves... Maybe if you can find some coir disks or blocks to throw in, it would be great too, but I think a pot would be great at least. You can pick them up pretty cheaply too, even from the pound shop etc.
Forgive me for my pages of text.

When is the Bazaar? You may have missed the window for some seed planting - they won't want to keep it until next year to plant.

The bazaar is on the 4th July - I know that the timing isn't great for most veg but I thought maybe salad leaves and some herbs/flowers would still be okay, garlic would be fine, and the fun day is for our staff not children as such. I will be bringing in my leftover toms and chillis... Not going to drown in them this year! LOL
