I've just been given some celery seed…never grown celery before…and it says to plant March to April. Wondering whether to sow them now or is it too late?

You could do they will just be a bit later. They are slow to germinate and when growing need lots of wTer or they will be stringy.

      |They'll probably be very late and won't get to a good size unless it stays really warm.
If you're just after them for soup or something, do it, because you can pull off individual stalks.
If you're after full size celery, I'd vote for a bunch of seedlings from a GC.

Thank you Roitelet and Taff. I have just looked at the packet again and notice that it is dated pktd for yr end 2011 so guess I might just as well plant them now and see if any seeds germinate. I can maybe then at least use leaves for flavouring if nothing else.
