  • Celery Seedling Advice Please

    Hi folks

My celery seedlings have been up for about a week now but are not ready to be pricked out into individual pots just yet.

They are on my window cill at home but I'd like to take them down to the plot, would they be ok in an unheated greenhouse or would that be too cold for them?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks Scarlet. Wasn't sure how hardy they were. We're having lovely spring sunshine up here but no doubt it wont last for long.

I'd say don't risk it, they will just keel over if you shock them especially as you are so far north the chance of a cold frost/snow is still high.

No! I wouldn't risk it either! They are not very "Cold Hardy" and very fussy things to grow! Being a "Bog Plant" Need there feet in constant damp soil, which given to the cold elements, the chance of the soil in the pot it's in freezing is not the best plan!

But to be perfectly honest! I wouldn't sow till at least late March early Feb, so when they need moving on conditions are better!

I sowed mine last weekend which is about normal but they'll stay in the conservatory until they get planted up individually. After that they'll go out in the cold greenhouse.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
