  • Celery growing in the Highlands?

Has anyone any advice about growing celery this far north? I live 15 miles from Inverness.

I'm as far north in England as you can get and it grows happily outside here. With a bit of protection I can see no reason why it shouldn't thrive where you are. Don't transplant the young celery till all danger of frosts is gone then give it plenty of muck and moisture.

Does celery need to be grown under a bucket.. or am I confusing with something else?

Are you thinking of forced rhubarb Philthy?
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Forced rhubarb is nice and tasty, long tender stalks. Tires out the plant though as I understand it. They commercially grow it in big dark sheds and harvest by candle light.
