Where does celeriac fit in the crop rotation.

Is it a brassica or umbellifer or what.

    Thank you

I may be wrong, but I think it's a root crop.

The main rule with celeriac is to remember it is a bog plant and needs to be kept moist. I always give it a good mulch of well rotted compost, which means less watering.

I rotate mine with my roots but not sure this is entirely correct. So far I've pretty much only managed to nurture them on far enough to bolt into flower in the summer months and then curse myself for not watering them enough They do need a lot of water to keep them happy and to stop them bolting. Like Tam says, they definitely need a good mulch to keep the water levels up. But that said, even the little tennis balls I am harvesting of those that didn't bolt (but I didn't look after properly, hence the size) are great and its nice to have something from the plot this time of year and the foliage looks lovely and green on the plot too.

Don't remember ever seeing an umbellifer in the rotation thingy.

Mine is with my carrots, onions, leeks, parsnips etc (although not much fatter than some of the carrots due to a dry early summer )

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
