Cauliflower ?

    Cauliflower ?

    Ive sown some cauliflower and PSB( summer harvest variety) They have all come up but the cauliflower seedlings looks somewhat yellow plus when am i supposed to prick out the seedlings to leave the strongest one remaining and growing ???/


    One more thing what other vegetable can you sow in a propagater this time of year even though the seed packet says not to.??

    i think the yellowing in colour is just down to lack of light.or lack of day light hours.as long as you potted them in good seed/multi purpose compost then theres enough nutrients in there to see them over a good few weeks.
    i normaly plant 2 seeds to a module and as soon as there big enough to recognise the strongest one then take the weaker one out.the sooner the better realy.

    on the planting side.ive got toms,chillies,leeks,spring lettuce all in propergators on the windowsill.and theyve all come up.
    i only sow a couple of each as again its still a bit early and with the lack of natural sunlight they tend to go a bit leggy.
    theres a early tom/chillie thread on here at the moment.

        Early sowing is all very well, IF you've got the room & conditions for growing the plants on. Germination is the easy bit

          Providing they don't get to leggy you just plant them deeper when potting on or planting out. Yellowing leaves can also be a sign that they want potting on.

            Thank you two sheds your advice always works in my garden and ian half are green and half are yellow its the newest shoots that are yellow theyve only just come up couold it just be normal ??
