  • Caulie Question

I was given a couple of dozen cauliflower seedlings by a neighbour back in March.
I've potted them on (three to a six inch pot) and they are growing well and seem quite happy at the moment.
The Big Idea was to wait untill my peas or broadies had finished, then plant them, some psb and dwarf kale (all in pots at mo) in the vacated beds.
My question is: Will they be ok till then, bearing in mind that my peas and beans are still several weeks away from flowering, let alone fruiting. Or should I pot them on or get them in the ground?
I'm new to growing brasicas, and I've heard the term "Summer Caulie" and "Winter Caulie" mentioned. Are they the same - but planted at different times of the year? Unfortunately my neighbour has been unable to enlighten me as she is even newer to this growing malarky than I am.
    All advice gratefully recieved!

so long as they don't get pot-bound, leave them in pots until your ground is clear.

without knowing the variety you've got, it's impossible to know when they will produce caulis

Yep, it's a bummer, but my neighbour planted an entire packet and promptly threw it away! They were just labled "COLLIES"!!! (Hope I don't end up with a litter!)
Maybe I'll plant some out in a bucket or two now, and hold on to the rest until I've got some clear ground.

        Caulie Question

Caulis get called "winter" or "summer" because that's a guide as to they should crop. The idea is to get both and/or others, so as one lot finishes another lot starts. Best of luck with them, though, and don't forget the enviromesh!
