  • Can you Identify this for me please :)

    Hello,

I am new to veg gardening and i have noticed the below on my winter onions. Is it Allium Leaf Miner or could it just be where one of our 3 cats has had a Nom?

I can only see it on 2 plants on one leaf off each which have been over hanging the edge of the bed

I'm no expert but it looks like cat noming to me. I also have 3 cats and I can imagine them thinking 'look at that juicy blade of grass I'll have some of that' but then after a few chews (markings look like teeth patterns), they give up because of the taste. If they liked it they would have climbed over the edging and had more. If it was a virus or other pest I'm guessing it would be present on other leaves and not just the two on the edge of the bed.

However, there are people here far more experienced than myself with onions even if I do know a fair bit about cats. Hope it doesn't spread whatever the cause.

^ ^ No, that's why they chewed them for a taste and then left them.
