    Can i eat them?

    Just a quick question the seeds from runner beans can they be dried and then eaten in soups stews like other beans????
    Hope it's not to stupid a question but like i say to the kids at school, i you don't know then ask.

    You can, yes

    You can keep a few back for sowing next year too (bearing in mind that most varieties will readily cross with each other.. so you may or may not get a good yield from them, depending on what traits are inherited and all that gubbins!)

        they can also be frozxen as they are, fresh in other words, and used like that.

            There's a thread on this topic in the section Making the Most. I found this really helpful.

            I've tried it this year, drying, then soaking them and boiling open for ten minutes*, then boiling until they're soft. I then froze them for use in adding to casseroles or other dishes.

            Only one problem: They're a dingy, sludgy colour and don't smell nicely - though the smell is slight.

            *As must be done when you buy dried beans, see the thread mentioned above.
