  • Can I earth up broadies?

I have a large flowerpot with crimson flowered broadies growing in it. I planted them fairly low in the pot to protect them from the winds in spring. Trouble is, they now look a bit tired though they are making new flowers. I wondered if I could 'earth them up' with a bit of fresh compost?

    It wouldn't hurt.
    Bit of a feed?

Do they have a preference or will tomato feed do for them?

There will be some nutrients in fresh compost ... tomato feed would do, as it is high-potash (for fruiting plants).

You don't want hi-nitrogen as that will give too many leaves

Okay, I will give them a bit of compost today and then tom feed when I am making it up for the toms. Thanks TS. Hoping to pick the first pod at the weekend - I think it holds a whole bean
