  • Can I dig up my potatoes now?

I planted some potatoes in the middle of July. Just from old potatoes not seed potatoes but it's my first time
My potato plants are starting to look abit battered with the rain and wind so I wondered if I can dig them up them now before I lose them altogether. They haven't had any flowers on them but the 2 plants I have dug up have got potatoes there. Some small some about 6" across.
As it's my first year I would be grateful for any advice.

If you leave spuds in the ground too long they could suffer badly from keel slug damage!

I have lifted them today and I have 3.67 LB of potatoes. It feels great, I never knew growing things could be so good.
These will be boiled, roasted then frozen for Christmas dinner.

A friend of mine has had a very good crop off a few that she left in from last year by mistake! She's been running around with a new baby so the garden has taken second or third place this year but she was well happy with the bonus but wouldn't have planned it that way.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
