  • Calling all tomato enthusiasts! We need your help!

    Hello.

We wonder if anyone might be able to help. We are currently working with an artist who’s project is centred around Paul Robeson – an American actor and singer who was at the forefront of the civil rights movement. The artist would like to contact people who grow the Paul Robeson tomato, which is a black tomato, originating in Russia. The artist would like to talk with growers of the tomato, and would like to find photographs of examples of the tomato. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

Welcome to the vine. Have heard of Paul Robeson but unfortunately not of the tomato.

Looks as if it is very popular in America and suited to a cooler climate so should do well here.

I tried it a few years ago, along with lots of other tomatoes, black or otherwise...can't remember much about it, sorry.

Never heard of it before, but I'll definitely have to grow it!

I've grown these for the past 3 years and I have to say that they are the best tasting tomatoes I have ever grown. Great in sandwiches and brilliant at making soup and pasta sauces. Not sure if I have many decent photo's but I'll have a look around at the weekend and post anything useful that I find.

                      EDIT

These are the only 3 i can find from my mobile.

One is a picture if a cut tomato, one is of them whilst they were growing and the other is a collection of cucumbers and tomatoes where the bottom left (the picture uploaded the other way around) tomato is a Paul Robeson (the other 3 are German Red Strawberry). Hope these help.
I can always get some better pictures this year assuming the seeds I have germinate and the timescale fits.
