I started off my cabbage indoors, ive pricked them out of seed trays and into pots. Some have little 'true leaves' (the small jaggy shaped ones??), can i plant them out up the plot yet or even put them in the cold frame? or do they still need to be kept inside?thanks!

Brassicas are pretty hardy - I'd put them in the cold frame now (day time only for a few days if they have been inside so they get used to lower temps), and when they are a bit bigger and easier to handle (say 3-4" with two or three pairs of 'true' leaves) you can plant them out into their final positions.
Remember to firm them in the soil well , and to cover with fleece/netting against the pigeons. -

You'll need to acclimatise them to being out / in cold frame, but that apart I think that they resent heat early on, so would be better out than in. I keep mine in just until they germinate and then they go out and grow on a bit slower as a result, but with the intended result of better / stronger plants.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our gardenComment
