    Cabbage splitting

    Went up to allotment today and was devasted to find that four out of my 12 Hispi cabbages have split and are completely unusable. We haven't had any heavy rain so why should they split now?
    I am really disappointed as they are a nice weight and ready for picking and eating. This also happened last year so what am I doing wrong?

    Why are they unusable? Some of ours split last year(normal round kind not Hispi) cause they were massive and we left them too long, but we still ate them.

      Most pointed cabbage will be splitting this time of the year, it just happens. The round drumheads are standing well at the moment but they are likely to start splitting in another month or so. As Shadylane asks 'Why are they unusable?' .
