No need to throw away last years seed - unless they were unsuccessful.

It's a very expensive doing that every year!

I buy from several different suppliers so I can try particular varieties, but carry on using packets of 'old favourites' until they're all used up

Most seeds are viable for 3 or 4 years if stored correctly. No need to get rid of last year's unless you were unhappy with what they produced. What seeds do you have left, and whereabouts are you?

I agree but I wouldn't dream of trying to grow parsnips from old seed.

Mine won't even grow from new seed.

I was quite unhappy with what was produced last year to be honest. I mostly have alot of carrot and leek seeds left over and im in the south of england

Hi Mark. If you add your location to your profile it will show up on your posts (top right hand corner - I'm in Lowestoft). I see from one of your earlier posts that you have clay soil - this may be why the carrots didn't do too well, but the leeks should have been fine.

I pick seeds up as I go, this year I got most of mine from Dobies through my allotment association 50% discounted, the only seeds I will not Kings Seeds anymore as I don't rate them at all.

A lot on here try Real Seeds, which I have bought this year. I quite like the Chase seeds too - both are Internet/catalogue purchases. Why don't you packet your leftover seeds for the seed circle and do swapsies?

Why don't you rate them? They are one of the catalogues I have ....

I agree with currysnifer, kings seeds are poor quality, I believe they sell old seed as new seed. They are cheap but you do pay for what you get. I found ihad to over order from kings to allow for dissapointment.

Dt brown, real seed co, jba potatoes for me.

That's not necessarily down to your seed: there are many, many factors involved: timing, weather, soil, temp, cack-handedness ...
