  • Buying Seeds in France.

So starting to think ahead to next year and I am interested to know where other French Grapes buy seeds from?

Two years ago I used a mix of a couple of old faithful UK suppliers, Baumaux and brico stores and last year was just Baumaux. I didn't mind paying the 7eruo delivery charge as I bought quite a few shrubs and plants which were all excellent quality and very well packed.

This year as it will be seeds only, the delivery charge is suddenly a bit steep in relation to the purchase.

So where do you guys source seeds?

    Hi Pyrenees,

My dad lives in Batz-ser-mer (sorry if spelling is wrong!) and he gets seeds for his allotment from B and T World Seeds.

    Thanks

    Si

About 70% from the UK when we visit- and the rest from various garden centres/Agrial over here.

I have bought from Bamux but like you think the 7.50 euros is a bit steep if the order is small and light. I have bought from the local garden centres and Lidl and they have been fine. I brig very little back from the UK only the things I really can't find here.

Sounds like a need for a French seed circle

I have bought from Graines Baumaux but havent found them that brilliant ..OK if you want more obscure seeds ...havent used them this year.
I buy locally in Gamm Vert or Jardinerie de Quercy , but source my Night Scented Stock and Runner Beans in England.(not that either of them do all that well here but do like to have them)
Would be pleased to be part of a french seed circle.......

                        Ahhh, now there's the rub
Not quite sure how it will work but I'm working on a plan. It will probably be something like
                        Zaz's but not so sophisticated.
Give me a few more days to think about it and I'll start a separate thread.

Point Vert of Bricomarché. Go on-line & have look at Marshalls - they will send to France for not a lot of money. Interesting to compare the prices of Suttons UK catalogue with their French one!

I'm still packing up those seeds for you! Give me a few more days what with the bank hol and trying to tidy stuff and even...go out for the day - yeah, it might happen...

Thompson and Morgan have a French web site although the seeds are despatched from UK so allow plenty of time for their arrival. Lidl seeds have worked well for flowers and veg. On a separate note I am unable to buy growbags here for use in my small greenhouse and have tried bags of "Terre Horticole" with only limited success. Any ideas?
