  • Buying bulk - radish & peas (or other)

Can anyone please recommend a place to buy radish and pea in bulk.

I purchased 1.5kg of sunflower seed over the weekend for £2, is there anything else edible that can be purchased very cheap?

The seed is for microgreen salads.

    Thanks
    Dave

Try premier seeds on eBay, I have brought micro greens from them before

Dried peas (like Leo peas) from the supermarket can be used for sprouting.
Big bags of coriander seeds etc from Asian shops are worth trying.
You can try sprouting any seeds and pulses that are sold for eating/cooking. Some work but it may depend on how fresh they are and how they've been stored.

#2 I do believe Premier seeds sell in bulk as well. I get my Mesclun salad mix from there, last time I bought some it was just over £1 for 2500 seeds I bought 10 packets to avoid postage.

Moles Seeds sell large packs of all kinds of seeds. Whether they're cheap, I wouldn't like to say, but a kilo of radish seeds (for example)? That sounds like a bulk buy to me.

I had 100 % failure with 3 types of onions from them !I used the same compost and in the same green house with onions from wilkos and sown at the same time and got a 100% success ,they didn't want to know when got in touch with them it wasn't the cost of the seeds it was the time wasted and not having the oinions I wanted to plant! atb Dal

I've been stung by them too.

Another trick they pull is to mix in old seeds with fresh seeds to offload them as bulk lots.

Some times they mislabel seeds and when you complain they will pick a random number from thin air and say something like, "We've tested these seeds and got 95% germination rate".

That's interesting. I was just saying to Mr Snoop that I won't use Just Seeds again and was half thinking about crossing Premier Seeds off my list too. Some things I've had from PS have done OK but more recently not. The JS F1 seeds I bought are rubbish.

This is all bad to hear.

I had a problem with Wilko's last week and came away very disappointed.

In a nutshell, they are (now at least) knowingly ripping their customers off.

I went in to complain that all of the 20+ packets of their own branded seeds were 75% short according to the average count on the packet.

The manager opened a few packets from the shelf in front of me, agreed with me, and after a short argument (in which he quickly discovered he was legless) agreed to remove the entire range from the shop floor until he'd spoken to head office.

I went in the next day to discover head office had instructed him to put the entire stock back on shelf.

                              Disgusting.

I'll never step foot in one of their shops again.
