Here in this part of the country north yks, there seems to be a lack of butterflies this year, having only seen 1 so far (thank the lord) just wondered what it was like in other parts of the country. can we thank the harsh winter?

I'm in Buckinghamshire and have only seen a couple down here despite the recent warm weather. My cabbages are very grateful

There appear to be a lot of fledgling birds though, perhaps the parents collected all the caterpillars.Comment

Very few cabbage whites here in Scunthorpe. Caggage, sprouts and kale are doing great. Lots of blackbirds with young ones, thrush and sparrows in the garden. Loads of frogs in the polytunnel, keeping fingers crossed

In north Cumbria I've seen more painted ladies than cabbage whites this year which is very strange but I'm not complaining. I think I might actually get a brassica harvest this year
