  • Butter beans

Can you grow these in this country and if so do they have a different name as can't find any seed. Thank you
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

Butter beans aka Lima beans. Gonna try growing the Henderson bush variety this year, but they do need a long season and warm weather I think.

Here's a previous thread about BB and nomenclature too.

There is a white seeded runner bean (Czar) that are like butter beans (which make chocolate biscuits if mixed with breadcrumbs!!). Czar runner bean seeds are available through The Organic Gardening Catalogue

As an experiment I'm trying some dried butter beans I bought from Tesco's!

I tried that but all the beans split in half, perhaps they'd got "too dry" in the packet?
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

Do you mean they split in half after planting or before Maureen?
