My brussels sprouts seem to be developing well but the leaves of the plants have all but been eaten away, does this mean the sprouts will be no good?

Have seen many brussels sprouts plants on nieghbouring plots that have had their leaves well and truly eaten away but the sprouts look fantastic and I'm sure they will be fine.
I on the other hand have the opposite problem. Healthy looking plants with plenty of leaf but pathetic sprouts. Hope they buck their ideas up before Christmas. Mrs snuffer will say I've grown them like that on purpose so as to avoid them polluting my Christmas dinner. Can you tell, I'm not overly fond of sprouts?It is the doom of man, that they forget. -
