This is the first year I have grown Broccoli.I have harvested a couple of heads do I now leave the plant in to let it grow side shoots?
Is it the same as cauliflower where you only get 1 head?
The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

      Hi,

I'm also growing broccoli (or any vegetabele for that matter) for the first time and am no sure when or how to harvest. At the moment my largest broccoli head is about 2.5 inches wide with a few side shoots showing smaller heads.

Is this ready for picking now or should I wait for it to get bigger?

      Thanks,
      Matt

For the first head I would wait a bit longer to see if it grows more. If it doesn't - pick it!
(and wait for the side shoots)

hi Matt. Just make sure you pick your brocolli or calabrese before the flowers start to open or it will be bitter.
