I'm growing one from a tuber bought from the supermarket. It's in a 20cm pot at the moment but I will transplant it into a large bucket this weekend. I'd recommend the largest pot you have

We did, too, Rach! We planted 3, each in its own BIG oval pot, about 38 x 32 cm I expect. Can't say if that's right or wrong, as it's our first time with sweet potatoes. I'm very excited to see them growing, though!

Hi Rach, was it a sweet potato vine? We went to Homebase last night for some canes, and saw these in the vegetable section. A woman working there started up a conversation about them and said they were basically the same as sweet potatoes but no need for earthing up - and as they were only £1.99 we bought one. However, I've since had a look on the internet and there's a lot of conflicting information as to whether they're actually edible, or just ornamental plants! If anyone has any knowledge of this or a definitive answer I'd be most grateful! I'll be slightly peeved if they aren't edible, as they were in the veggie section

              sweet potato

yes, they are the ones that I bought. It does say it produces edible tubers and was in the grow your own section. I too had an internet trawl, most confusing...lots of american and canadian sites with bizarre pictures but worth a try. I must admit, mine are still in their pots waiting to be put in the big pots . Too busy harvesting sugar snaps, trying not to stick a fork through every potato in the ground and dealing with a turnip glut!

Normal sweet potatoes form a vine like growth, not got any piccies of mine but will try and take some later to post.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
