  • blue chip purchase

I have just ordered my "blue salad" potatoes on the net, I bought a bag of 5 last year and they grew well despite the very short summer, they are a really well flavoured spud, but they do "look" weird as blue chips or roasties, if anyones looking for something different they could try these, we are also trying 5 or 6 new (to us) pepper/chillies and some of those cucumelon ,I am looking forward to seeing what they taste like, just fingers crossed for a good long summer.......

its the colour that is at odds with what you expect to see, our daughter had to close her eyes to first taste them, she wouldnt try them while looking at the colour, she loves them now, we just expect them to be a set colour, got some purple toms from china, over the net, they should be interesting......

just tell them that they are blue cause they come from a cold country (bred in Scotland, grown in n Ireland) so that is arguably true............

have a look for any nurseries within distance of you,one a few miles from us sells many different varieties, you bag up what ever amount you wish, same with onions sets, beans and peas, they even supply a pencil and labels,so you know what you got, they have lots of bulbs at the correct time of year to,i had a look on the web site,it looks like they run out now to,

I've grown them for the past few years. Really like them just boiled as a new type potato or roasted in their skins. Don't like them mashed though, find that the colour puts me off then.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We went with Purple Majesty last year and got a similar reaction from a friend who was served some purple mash!

That's why I want some, to be honest! The kids in gardening club at school love the home grown chips - I would love for them to try some blue chips as well. Especially because I use a baked chip recipe which makes it low fat. Once they get going on tasting there is no stopping them - they dare each other!
