  • Black/purple pepper?

This is my first proper year growing peppers/capsicums.....as is so often the case, I 'lost' all the labels earlier on so I have no idea what's what! Things seem to be doing well but I'm a leeetle confused as one of the plants has a PURPLE pepper growing on it!

It looks healthy enough and it's about 2 inches long now but it's still PURPLE! So can anyone help me out and tell me what it is please?

Never in my life have I seen a purple pepper before!

    Thanks

    SN

I'm growing purple jalapeno's this year from seed I was kindly given off a fellow grape.
The plants themselves have a puplish tinge to the foliage and stems.

I am also growing mixed sweet peppers, some of which are purple.

I have purple tiger chillies growing also, only flowering as yet this year but the ones I had last year were a beautiful purple, aubergine type colour. Would post a piccie but can't find one!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                Thanks for asking, Manda!

I have six plants growing in a raised bed in the greenhouse. I was a bit late in sowing them so they are just starting to flower and are about 15 to 18 inches high.
I'll see if I can arrange a piccie with my trusty camera if I think on!

If I get a decent crop I should be able to give you some fresh seed for next year!

PS It was your piccies of those jars of pickled purple jallies that did it for me!

There are some purple sweet peppers too, Scottishnewbie. I bought some seeds of Tequila from Sea Spring Seeds' stand at Hampton Court flower show. (Sea Spring Seeds, Tequila) They had some fruit on the stand and they were an amazing colour

Scottishnewbie, several kinds of chillies come in purple.
On the link you can see FoxHillGardeners Pretty in Purple. I just love them.
And you can see my Black Hungarian - more black than purple, and going very dark red now.
There are also many other kinds.
