Ditto - kelvedon wonder are lovely and sweet for pea shoots.
If you take 3 choppings for pea shoots, they don't tend to last, but they also make lovely 'peas on the pod' peas.....so lovely and sweet.

I've only ever tried with Feltham First... they are lovely for shoots, but you have to cut them early or they are a bit tough for eating raw.pjh75

Slightly off track, but we had dinner at an acquaintances the other week. She quite fancies herself as the gourmet and the salad included pea shoots. Never having tasted them before, I made a point of trying them on their own. To me, they didn't taste of much at all. I was quite disappointed, knowing how lovely peas are straight from the pod, but is that because these were shop bought and presumably well travelled?
I'm growing some peas this year (Gladstone and Hurst Greenshaft) - is it worth me trying shoots from my own plants? If so, which shoots do you pick? I wouldn't want to lose a whole plant of peas!

On Alys Fowler's The Edible Garden she grew Pea Shoots and used Leo Dried Peas 250g available from Asda for 36p!!!

Hi all, quick question...It's our first year of growing peas and could only find sugar snap in the GC when we went in. How many would you recommend planting per Morrisons bucket for either shoots and to grow to maturity?Comment

I've got a tray of Hurst Greenshaft coming along nicely for shoots. They were left drying on the plants when the old chap who had the allotment before me died last year. I gathered the seed for a 'memorial' crop and decided to use them for shoots. They are about 2" high at the moment.
Sugar Snap can grow quite all. I'd only put 4 in a bucket, with bamboos of 6ft to climb up. I wouldn't waste SS for shoots - get some supermarket dried peas and scatter them fairly thickly then cover with compost, for a crop of shoots. You can use a flat seed tray.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I've also sown and eaten the brand (Leo) that Alys Fowler used on her show. They're tasty, but I wouldn't say "sweet." But I had never eaten pea shoots before, so maybe that's how they're supposed to taste.
