Default Beetroot and okra

I live in Waterford Ireland and am currently growing broad beans, runner beans, tomatoes, chives, coriander, gem lettuce, rocket, red pepper, courgettes, basil, okra, red broccoli and beetroot. For the third year running my beetrrot is not doing too well, nor is my okra and the basil only thrives in the bedroom!! I have the same problem with okra as another reader, ie whitish leaves and not much growth. Last year I harvested one little okra pod grown in an unheated greenhouse.
