My Beefstakes have fruited, gone green and then turned brown, shrivelled up and died on me. They are grown outside on the patio, any suggestions?

I agree with Two Sheds, sounds like blight, there seems to be a lot of it about, i had it early on in the season, had to resort to buying tomato plants
, only 3, my other plants were ok. 
My next door neighbour's just had to throw 18 plants away because of it
